Terms of Use
Last updated: 24 August 2026
These terms govern your use of this website. The short version: everything published here is general information, not advice for your situation, and reading it does not make us your accountants. Advice you can rely on comes from a written engagement.
1. Who these terms are with
This website is operated by TaxYork Ltd, company number 17114519, registered in England and Wales, trading as US UK Tax Accountants. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company. Registered details are on our legal notice.
By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
2. This site is information, not advice
Everything published here — service pages, articles, form guides, frequently asked questions — is general information about cross-border US and UK tax. It is written for a wide audience and cannot account for your circumstances.
Tax outcomes turn on specifics: your residence and domicile position, your citizenship, what you hold and where, which elections you have made in previous years, and the timing of events. Two people reading the same page here can have opposite correct answers. Do not act, or decide not to act, on the basis of anything on this site without advice on your own position.
3. No client relationship arises from this site
Reading this site, sending an enquiry through the contact form, or exchanging preliminary emails with us does not make you a client and does not create a professional relationship.
We become your accountants only when we have agreed the scope of work in writing, confirmed the fee, completed our client identification and anti-money-laundering checks, and you have accepted an engagement letter. Until all of that is in place, nothing we say to you is advice you can rely on, and we accept no responsibility for decisions taken on it.
4. Tax years, figures and currency of information
Thresholds, rates, allowances and deadlines change every year, and in both systems. Pages carrying figures state the tax year they relate to, and each page shows when it was last reviewed. A page that was accurate when written may not be accurate now.
Where we cite the IRS, FinCEN or GOV.UK, those sources are authoritative and this site is not. If they disagree with a page here, they are right. We are not responsible for the content of external sites we link to.
5. Fees and engagement
Where we quote a fixed fee, that fee, its scope and what falls outside it are set out in writing before any work begins. Work beyond the agreed scope is quoted separately and agreed before it starts. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance, and indicative descriptions of our services do not form part of any contract.
6. Intellectual property
The content of this site, including its text, layout, graphics and code, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright.
You may read it, print it and share links to it for your own personal or internal business use. You may not republish it, sell it, or present it as your own, and you may not systematically extract it — including by automated scraping — to build or train a competing product or dataset, without our written permission.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use this site unlawfully, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, interfere with its operation, or submit anything through the contact form that is unlawful, abusive, or designed to harm the site or its recipients. We may withdraw access where these terms are breached.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, and may update its content at any time without notice.
9. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on information published on this site, or from any inability to use it. In particular we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or indirect or consequential loss.
This section concerns the website. Our responsibility for work carried out under an engagement is set out in the engagement letter for that work, not here.
10. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what personal data this site collects and how it is handled. It forms part of these terms.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute arising out of them or the use of this site are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, TaxYork Ltd being registered there.
We advise on US tax as well as UK tax, and we accept enquiries from people living in the United States. That does not change the law governing this website or your use of it. Where an engagement requires different terms, those are set out in the engagement letter.
12. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The date at the top shows when they were last changed, and the version in force is the one published here when you use the site.
13. Contact
